Cruisin'

Joe and I had a fabulous time on our cruise to the Bahamas. It was our first "real" vacation since our honeymoon 6-1/2 years ago. It was relaxing and we tried some new things. We participated in karokee night and learned to Salsa. Joe had the most incredible SCUBA dive of his life and got to swim with some sharks. We took a kayak trip from one island to another and then fell asleep on the beach.
Key West, however, is not a place we will visit again. We happened to be there during Fantasy Fest. I'm still not sure what the actual purpose of this festival is, but we saw several painted, naked, 60-year-old women and plenty of other weird costumes.
We would like to go on a cruise again some day. Maybe you can join us next time!

Hee hee....Fantasy Fest. We could have warned you. We actually went to Key West the week before it officially started but still got to "enjoy" many of the sights. The painted ladies were not something I want to see again. But there were several men that had clothes on and were painted silver. One was really shiny and would stand on the sidewalk and looked like a statue....but he would move every once in a while. The other guy was old and his silver was not shiny. Darrin took some pictures of him....he was really cool looking. We enjoyed everything but the Fantasy Fest stuff and really enjoyed Key West. They have great Cuban sandwiches, great snorkeling right off the beaches and an easy going lifestyle. We tried to plan another trip away from Fantasy Fest but that was the year of Rita and Katrina and even though the island didn't get too much damage, we called the dive shop and the water was brown. We looked at going again this year but got a wedding down in Playa del Carmen in December so we'll just do that for now. Sorry for such a long comment....your blog made me laugh out loud here at work so I had to comment. Better get busy...
